The Cantonment Board Babina was established on 22nd August’ 1959 to cater to municipal needs of the cantonment and to usher in development for improving the standard of living in the Cantonment. The Babina Cantonment Comprises of Army area over an area of 2749 Acres and Civil area (Proposed) to an extent of 465 Acres. As per Census 2001 the civil population of Babina Cantonment Board is 18,078 and Military  population is 13,869. In addition to providing basic civic amenities to its residents, the Cantonment Board also ensure basic educational and medical facility specially to the Govt./Cantonment Board employees and other weaker section of the society. Babina Cantonment is class I Cantonment and the Cantonment Board is constituted of 7 Nominated members and 7 Elected members from each of the seven wards. The Station Commander is the President of the Cantonment Board and the Cantonment Board function in accordance with the Cantonment Act 1924.
