Constitution
Cantonment shall be divided into four categories, namely :-
(i) Category I Cantonments, in which the population exceeds fifty thousand;
(ii) Category II Cantonments, in which the population exceeds ten thousand, but does not exceed
fifty thousand;
(iii) Category III Cantonments, in which the population exceeds two thousand five hundred, but does
not exceeds ten thousand; and
(iv) Category IV Cantonments, in which the population does not exceeds tow thousand five hundred.
Now, the Cantonment Board Babina is a Class II Cantonment as per section 12 (4) of the Cantonments Act, 2006 and the Board shall consist of the following members, namely: -
| 1. | President, Cantonment Board, Babina | : | The Officer Commanding the Station; |
| 2. | Secretary/Member | : | The Chief Executive officer; |
| 3. | Two ex Officio Members | : | The Health Officer and Executive Engineer; |
| 4. | Three Nominated Members | : |
Two Military Officers nominated by name by the Officer Commanding the Station by order in writing and the District Magistrate or an Executive Magistrate not below the rank of Additional District Magistrate nominated by him. |
| 5. | Seven Elected Members | : | Elected from all the 7 Wards of the Cantonment. |
Remarks:-The Members of Parliament and Member of Legislative Assembly representing constituencies which wholly or partly the Cantonment area, shall be special invites for the meeting of the Board but without a right to vote.
