Babina is located  about 26 Km. South of Jhansi in Uttar Pradesh on National Highway- 26. Prior to 1959 Babina was a town and was being managed by Gram Panchayat under the Revenue authorities of U.P. State Govt. To improve the living standard and to provide better civic amenities to the public. Babina Cantonment was established on 22^nd Aug'1959 vide Gazette Notification S.R.O., 237 dated 17^th Aug'1959. Babina is a Class-II Cantonment as per Cantonments Act, 2006 with a Civil Population of Approximate 18,078 as per 2001 census. Brig. K.C. Khanna was the first President and Shri S. Mazoomdar, CEO of the  Cantonment. Babina Cantt has an area of 4584.795 Acres. The Military area is 4081.737 acres and Civil Area is 503.058 Acres. At present the Cantonment Board, Babina has a wide range of Executive, Administrative and the Municipal Functions that are being provided to the inhabitants of Babina as well as the Armed Forces located in the Station.

         (2) Every Board shall be deemed to be a municipality under clause (e) of Article

              243P of the Constitution for the purpose of-

              (a) Receiving grants and allocation; or

              (b) Implementing the Central Government schemes of social welfare, public

                   health, hygiene, water supply, sanitation, urban renewal and education.
